Commercially the Comet is very common in the Garden Centres of the UK – typically in nacreous form, sold as a “Shubunkin” or as a red and white “sarassa” metallic. However, the show fish is rare – the demand for a long slender fish with an even longer, slender, tail that is held without drooping makes the show fish a real challenge as to get the fish large with the right shaped tail that doesn’t droop is not easy. The Comet is a pond fish typically and is hardy in the UK outdoors throughout the year.
